Another RCM hit?

UFO coin, Meteorite, Carousel and now Superman Statue...

I don't think the Carousel Coin fit in that group.

The UFO and Meteorite coins sold for 2x, 3x issue price.
The Carousel Coin did not. At best that coin sold for a few hundred dollars premium. After ebay fees you are looking at breakeven or a small premium. There was a guy on the other coin forum who tried to sell the carousel coin with lower and lower prices all the way down to $800.

Now we come to the Superman Sculpture coin. At $1200, you need to sell for $1400 just to break even. With high issue price point coins like this one, it is really hard to flip. So only buy it if you really like it. Don't bother re-selling it.

It call also be seen on ebay item: 132749442481

Kind of silly for that seller to ask $5500 for both the sculpture coin and the shield coin when the shield coin is still available for issue at the RCM. So it works out to $4350 for the sculpture coin.

@MoneyPenney

According to the RCM site, it states that the superman sculpture coin will not be shipped until October. Then again who knows, it may ship earlier.

@new1954 You are hitting on one of the most frustrating aspects of ordering from the mint. You never know when something will ship, you never know when the charge will hit your card and even if you are among the first to order, you can be the last to receive.

The order fulfillment and shipping processes at the RCM are not up to contemporary standards. And when a complaint/query is lodged, it may as well go into the black hole for all the response you receive.

Even my personal rep doesn't know when something will ship...

Since 99% of all issues are available from the secondary market at list price but with predictable and reliable shipping practices, this alone could spell the end for RCM direct sales.

@MoneyPenney

How much is Steve Bromberg selling them for? I guess you have to be a member to view or purchase one.

@jimper, same price as issue, $1199. Yes, for the next few days only VIP members can view and buy. But while you can't view, maybe you can order one by phoning in. I am passing on it, just too expensive.

Despite the quick sell out from the RCM, seems pretty easy to get from dealers. Even Canada Post have it.

Probably people realizing it's not a big of a hit as advertised. Many orders were likely cancelled once dealers listed at RCM prices, with enough to go around.

I bought the 2018 Superman Scupture Coin based on the photo, but cancelled my order as soon as I saw it on the The Coin Show. The photo showed much more definition and contrast, compared to the real thing.

I wonder if the Superman Sculpture Coin will drop as much as these 2017 Majestic Animals Sculpture Coins:

My guess would be almost but not quite as much. I think the Superman theme will always drive a premium beyond that for generic animal themes.
