Are there scratches on the lens, or is everything I'm seeing on the coin?

Having a hard time distinguishing between the chatter on the lower reverse field and scuffs on the case. Worse on obverse, I get a better feel for the reverse, it would go a 66/67 with the hits on the Memorial and a few rim ticks.

Sniper-Defeated;-You-Vs-TPG-1974-S-LMC

Here's what I'm having trouble with, is the stuff in the SW quarter mostly case scuff? If so then the obverse will save the coin and give it a solid MS67 or 68, if it is on the coin...takes it down to 65.

What drew you to this one?

Crazybo all my 1974 S I have from old bankrolls are dull with no luster their dull yellow. Its not sulfur from the paper but from the planchets used in San Fran. Bought 20 rolls First Natl Bank of Portland OR. of 74 D's and each roll had 2-5 S mints in them the 74 D's were stunning but the 74 S were just fugly. The luster drew me to this one, it shines like my 74 D's. Had been on the prowl for this one.
When I get it in hand will get closeups of the chatter

Cammy, I was wondering that, I'm the same way. I have a couple carded ones but the roll sucks, all look like they weren't rinsed right. A particle hazing, spottiness over most all of them. So yea, that's a good example, but like I said, what's on the slab? It will change it a few points but still a nice mid range. I got the one in my album from a mint set!

I'm in with the crowd . It's a beauty of a coin but I have the same feelings about the chatter . For now ; MS-67 .

These are kinda hard to find paid $70.00 after fees and shipping. Five years ago these booked for over $200.00 and now book $75.00. An MS67 would break the bank, have not seen a 67 at auction...boy I would be tempted for sure. Everyone pretty much hit on the money I think it just squeezed by as a 66.

Missed this GTG! I need to keep an eye on the modern coins forum more.

My guess would have been MS-66RD. Not trying to say this after the grade has already been revealed, but that would be my guess.

Maybe a cac sticker would go on it...not. I'm seeing alot of cac stickers on low grade key date Lincoln's lately. I won't start on that, a sticker paid for to tell me a TPG graded a coin correctly? Still looking for a brown bean Lincoln so I can send it back to TPG and demand an upgrade

I assumed a scratched slab, so I would have said MS-67 and been wrong.

I have a couple that have a shot at 67. This small date P is blazing with luster. Most people don't appreciate these, they are very hard to find without marks and spots.

Wow! That 74 Philly is amazing I bet it definitely goes 66+ minimum more like 67. Your 74 S is killer, I love the yellow planchets the Sanfrans were minted on. I really dig those 74's apparently Wexler does too as it is on cover of Lincoln Cent reference book.
1974 Ford was president and life just seemed simpler. I don't miss the bellbottoms or sideburns though I was enduring the 70's in Junior High. The 80's were when things got rolling for me.
I got a feeling these 74's are going to be condition rarity when I'm too old to care.
