Catman there seems to be ONE GREAT BIG SHORTAGE of buffalos in the Mid-west as my dealer is sweating bullets right now! He is afraid (1) that his order WILL NOT get filled as they have pushed him back two more weeks and (2) that the prices will far exceed what his normally has to pay per roll. He is now considering ordering bags from the mint as anything that does reach a bank, out of the major cities, will probably be going OUT the BACK DOOR, if you know what I mean. I am really kicking myself in the b--- for not buying rolls by the case on ebay last week as they to have started to soar. Would really like to help my dealer out if anyone of you have the ability to get a case or two at your local bank. Will make it worth your while as we are in dire straits here in southern Indiana. I sure would like to spread some around as people here are about to go off the deep end!!!

I just went on line to the U.S. Mint and was going to order a $25.00 bag of each P & D Buffalo nickels. One bag of each. When I saw they wanted to charge mr $20.65 postage for the two bags I decided I would have to be nuts to buy into that program...! catman.....

The proofs are getting pricey on ebay. Don't know if I'll get one, would really like to though. I did order the 2 roll P&D set from the mint. I am not sure if my bank has any rolls of these or not but if I got a hold of a few boxs I could make quite a bit selling individual rolls! David

Yes, but quite honestly it is done every year and the Statehood Quarters really drove the "bust them open" to new levels. While there is a lot of interest in the Buffalo nickel I feel the sets would have been busted open just the same due to the quarters and for the sellers, well, the nickel is just more icing on the cake. And, of course they can and will take full advantage of the situation and us buyers well, we will look for the bargains, so to speak! Myself, I am about bargained out, having played the ebay game early on and finally when prices rose a bit bought from a national dealer (not the one here but would have if he busted sets)! I made up my mind what I would pay per proof and when it passed that level I would be done. I managed to get my ROLL so now I am happy and even picked up 4 of the Ocean in View which I really don't care for but none the less I now have a few! I will just feel much better when they all finally arrive as many were pre-sales so there is a wait involved. Kind of ironic that the last nickels I bought (Friday) were the first to ship as this individual had them in hand!

I find it funny that people are selling the P&D Bison nickel rolls on ebay for $15.00 or more when they are still available at the mint for much less! I wonder if buyers are even aware of this? David

Some folks ABSOLUTELY will not buy from the Mint from various reasons so they turn to other options and if you don't have a dealer in your area, well, the auctions fill the gap!

I've never really had any issues with the mint. But I guess buying on ebay allows the buyer different payment options such as BidPay and PayPal. David

i think prices are only going to go up on proofs. the westward jouney 6 coin set last year sold for 12.95.,. I had to get mine off ebay because they were sold out. I paid 21.95. now 6 months later they are at 35-40.00. I am going to buy a few of the 6 coin sets this year. !!!!!

Well the buffalos are finally home! Received another 20 proofs in the mail today. Seems like I had money out and all over the country with nothing to show for it but now things are starting to arrive! I really don't know if I have ever seen anything like this in my life. Rolls of 100 (case) have already reached the $300 level for Philly and Denver is now over $200? There seems to be a HUGE shortage in our area of Indiana while out west, Texas to Montana, there seem to be quite a few available. Looks like Philly has some catching up to do! AMERICA LOVES HER BUFFALOS!!!

My herd of Bison's arrived in today's mail!! I now am the proud owner of 10 rolls from the Denver Mint! :-)
My only beef was I paid $12.50 for shipping and the seller only used $8.15 of that! What an outrage!!
