Note, the .6 oz per $ face value rule only applies to the 80% silver 1920 and later. 1919 and earlier is sterling 92.5% silver. A couple of previous posts have pointed you to the online price guide. The same site has a grading guide with pictures http://coinsandcanada.com/coins-grading.php

one thing that really shocked me as I went through online coin value sites and coins that sold on ebay was the (in my eyes) staggering low amount some of these coins sell for or are worth. For something 100 years old and in seemingly good shape to not be worth much really blew me away. Really gotta have the unicorn coins to make it worth it I guess

Basically only a few key dates or a high grade ms 64 or higher gains value, everything else is bullion value, there are ancient roman coins that you can buy for less than 100 bucks, but good luck !

When you look at what things (coins) sell for on ebay, just remember that a good chunk of that price then goes to ebay and/or Paypal. It's better to find a local person to sell to so you get to keep it all. Do you live near a major city?
