Very nice ,I love the way LIBERTY stands out on these Cap Bust Halves . also like the way John Reich designed the enlarged dates and everything else about the coin .

If you have pics of the coin in the holder without those carbon spots (you can see if PCGS has a pic of it on their site), PCGS should be able to have them removed for you. They might even offer the service if you can't provide a pic. They did that for me on a MS-62 Barber half that was riddled with carbon spots, and the results were excellent and they reholdered it at the same problem free grade.

The ones on the obverse are the worst, reverse not too bad. If unaddressed they may become what is called "terminal toning" and can pit the coin. I don't know how PCGS does it (acetone?) but they really did a great job on my silver coin which developed them in the holder in just several years even though properly stored.

So, do these appear after the coin is slabbed?
If the coin is dipped will it prevent future reappearance?

Is this the conservation service NGC does?

Sorry for so many questions
I really appreciate your insight

Never alter a CAC coin. Don't get me started on 'coin preservation' services.

In my case Yes.
Maybe.
I don't know, mine was done by PCGS as stated.

Ok got it....I didn't know PCGS had this service as well as NGC. I've been away from the hobby for a while and got a lot to catch up on....

MikeF, you're right, I'm kinda hesitant to crack a CAC

Thanks for all info everyone
