Very nice! I always love looking at colonials.

Love the serial number on the 10 shilling.

Did you buy both of these from an online auction site?

I love to see the older notes, especially if it is two sided. Thanks for sharing.

Rainman...each note is worth about $100 more or less...the higher the condition the more valuable...I just want to see detail(VF+) and enjoy the history of each!

Just picked up another colonial note 1774 New York Waterworks...will send pic when I receive it later this week. Interesting history--- first note issued by a municipality in the early colonies--- also Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton were involved---to be continued!

Here are pics of the NY Waterworks note...Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr were arch rivals in the banking community...the Federalists led by Thomas Jefferson and Al Hamilton controlled the banking in the early
colonies, Aaron Burr(Democrat-Republican) tried to get into NY banking and was rebuffed by Hamilton and co., Burr figured out a way into the NY banking scene by financing the NY Waterworks project. Later in their lives, the two dueled to the death(Hamilton's).
Now you know why collecting colonial currency is AWESOME~~~~~

Although this note is worn(condition Fine), it is the first issue(1774) and a low serial#28. Only about 2500 notes were issued...later there were three more issues(1775-1776). The project involved building a pump to bring fresh water to the 22,000 inhabitants of NYC back in the late 1700's...pipes made out of hollowed logs delivered the water into the urban zones.
Signatures: Jacob Sefferts was a patriot and Crugar was a British loyalist It was common for earlier notes to be signed by business leaders and governing officials who had opposing politics.

Just won a continental note(VF+) on ebay...but lost it cause the seller claims they already sold it and posted it in error..they offered another rag of a note
but I said that was not acceptable. They proceeded to refund my payment to PAYPAL
I'm planning on filing a complaint to ebay about this...what do you think?

Awesome notes! I'm still a beginner when it comes to collecting Colonial Notes, but I'm sure I'll buy more as the years go on. Here's some photos of a Colonial Maryland 1/9 of a dollar note. One ninth of a dollar?
The other is a Continental Note. What a fascinating hobby collecting colonial notes and coins is.
