Nice coin!!
This post is a great example of how different pictures of the same coin can lead to different grading results.
I went from a Specimen (1st pics), then to an ms62 (2nd pics) and then the third set of pictures gave me a great look at the coin, which I felt was the true representation of the coin's appearance.

Luster on the ICCS holder shot looks really nice. An MS60 would normally be a bit bright/processed. This looks better than that, even though it's marked up. I would say they undergraded it by a couple of points. Lots of these Unc 1948s are unnaturally dull.

I sent it to ICCS for the 1 week turn around. When I went to pick it up the older gentleman was there. I asked what was the grade; he said he didnt know. I told him I would open the envelope and when I saw MS60 I asked if he had anything to do with the marks.
The older gentleman said if the marking on the kings neck was on the reverse, this coin would have graded MS62 according to him.
I believe this coin did receive a net grade of MS60 rather than 62 because of the marking on the kings neck. Cest La Vie

Its all about eye appeal at the end of the day and I am sure the bag marks give a poor eye appeal. Not much difference in pricing between ms60-ms62 anyways. I am convinced ICCS net grades without a comment. Other companies would probably say MS60 Marks on the detailing if it.

Coinflipper.....I wouldn't classify the grading of your coin as 'net grading'.
Rather, the older gentleman (Brian Cornwall) simply meant if the marks were on the other side, the coin would have graded higher.
Further proof to what I've been saying for years that ICCS places way more grading emphasis on the obverse.

Absolutely. Brian did mention the exact same idea that the obverse is what draws most of the attention and all the marks do give a poor eye appeal. I'm still thrilled for it being MS!

If PCGS or NGC detailed or genuine this coin it would be half of the value with this ICCS grade, taking the fact ICCS doesn't take eye appeal as a factor I"m kind of surprise with a ms grade, there is a large value fron au to ms, maybe it's a great time to trade up

I think that ICCS does take eye appeal as a factor when grading. They may not mention it but I'm sure they do. Prime example is this coin where the marks on the kings neck effect the eye appeal. According to Brian at ICCS this coin had the potential to be ms62 if the marking were on the reverse. 100% they take eye appeal into consideration

ICCS grades on technical merit, not eye appeal. The reason the mark wouldn't have mattered were it on the reverse is that the front/obverse is far more important with respect to grade. I believe that ICCS weighs about 80% of the grade on it. The reverse, unless really messed up, is of little consequence to overall grade.
