I only have 10 or 12 Comm.'s ......and have never really persued them until the last year and a half or two with the new ones. I've bought some older ones at auctions and my dad has given me a few over time. Just picked up the John Marshall and the Lewis & Clark Proofs recently too. I've always got so much "other" work to do and persue on my coins, that I just never really thought about doing this.......might have to ponder it ! I do like them and respect the challenge you're going to do and hope we get to see the progress as you go along ! Nice pics and coins so far there !

There are definitely easier ones to complete because of the cost but few coins have the kind of historical value and low mintages of early US commemoratives.

I may not pursue the album for awhile, but I'll still continue to nab them when I see them. Problem is, I don't like "all" of them.....most of them yes....but some I just really don't care for. That's what keeps me from doing the album I think...

Thanks for sharing.
I have always liked the Stone Mountain one.
I wish I was back in the states so I could buy this one plus other coins.

I really want a Roanoke Island (just because I'm from NC) and a California, and a Oregon trail commemorative but the rest are not a design I have to have even though there are some I like but not as good as the ones mentioned. I could probably just get the 4 designs I really like and put them in my 7070 album in the places I have my modern half commems and be happy with that but as I said the ones I like seem to be the more expensive ones

Yes, I am aware that ebay allows people to buy no matter where they live. I miss visiting the dealers or going to shows to see the coin in person before I buy. Looking on ebay is not the same. Hit or miss on finding sellers who want to ship to the UK and not charge a over the top for it. Of course, now since I found this web site, there is lots of good advice and suggested sellers.

The 50-piece type set is much like collecting the 50 State Quarters. I collect them for completeness sake rather than the ones which have a design I like. It may not be the most apt analogy as some commemoratives are dirt cheap while others are well over a thousand dollars but I like the fact that each has it's own story.

My plan is to use my favorites in the 7070. I initially had modern commems but I'm slowly changing. So far I have the Oregon and Texas commems and I'm looking for the Bay Bridge and San Diego commems.
