In my opinion all the fees surrounding international payments deter buyers and sellers of any kind.

Paypal, CC, WU, Cheques and Money orders all have their fees.

Cash is the only one that doesn't but it is also not the best, securiety wise.

Then again if you are a larger style business these fees can be decreased and not seem so bad. I am not in the category so I wouldn't know.

I will add one thing to this conversation.

When I was a powerseller on ebay and had my business running well, I did happily accept international buyers. However as the fees got larger and one or two bad experiances I stopped excepting them.

I think it is a shame as I enjoyed selling internationally.

Why don't you ask the international buyer to use Paypal with an everyday account (No credit Card)? It is free.

Sorry projack I should have elaberated.

Paypal is great and free for buyers. Some sellers may benefit aswell.

As soon as you register a business paypal start charging more fees. That was when I was joining up anyway. It may have changed.

I have found, in many instances, it is safe sending good old cash and I have NOT been burned yet. Even though the mail is slower than PayPal everyone comes out on the plus side of the deal. I have sent cash all over the world and still do it when possible but if I want a specific item quickly then PayPal fills the bill.

An added security measure for sending cash through the mails is:
After the christmas holidays buy boxes of Chrissy cards that have envelopes that have foil lining.

Send the currency inside of the card in the foil lined envelope.
Even xray has difficulty determining when there is currency inside.

Thats cool RG, I was only joking around. I think the aluminium foil trick will work for most of us, however there is still a ellimant of risk involved.

Then again RG if you have way to much money and feel like donating to the Lars fund?...(joke again)
