VF30/35 details. cleaned, corroded. very difficult to find these in good condition as the planchets were just so bad

AU-55 details, environmental damage/cleaned. Once it tone back down to brown it will be a decent looking coin.

I am afraid I must agree with other opinions. The coin has uneven/corroded surfaces and it seems to have been cleaned from the pictures. Condition is EF, corroded, cleaned. Yes, '21's (and '23's as well) are difficult to find with decent surfaces. As an example, these are the ones in my collections. Condition is only 'so-so', and the better one has lightly rough surfaces as well, and a planchet defect or pit on the obverse. Paid less than you did, though. Up to F12 or so '21's are relatively easy to find, in my opinion. In better grades. however, they become very difficult.   |

This came in. The color looks nicer than seller's photos. The surfaces have a little corrosion when viewed under a 7x loupe, but it looks as nice as it can given its surface condition.   |

Handsome return, indeed! 1821 is an interesting date: based on the low mintage, many collectors consider this date to be scarce. This is true, but ONLY for attractive coins with good surfaces, and in grades grades above Very Fine. Below VF, they show up suprisingly often. These are the two best in my collection:   |

finding any LC in the 20's in higher grades is a challenge. finding one without issues even more so.
coin was cleaned, corrosion around the center of the reverse. maybe some light porosity as well
higher VF details (corroded) coin.
tough call whether to verdicare this one. I might be inclined to. I think it may clean up a little however keep in mind that doing that could enhance the problem areas
