I remember seeing this on all the ones I have seen (that I can remember). But I just checked 2 of my unc sets and didn't see this.

TanMann2001- Take your pick! they all look similar to me--do you see any different variations of the DDR? Here are 5 separate coins each with the extra step present... 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

I've gone through about 3000 2019AMP-D I didn't start seeing the DDR until my last few rolls! I thought my eyes were playing tricks since I had been staring at them for hours, so I put them away and when I went back to them yesterday I was pleasantly surprised that there was actually something there! I've noticed quite a few other die markers on these coins as well - Die chip on American flag - Die chip on pinky finger-or pointer - Bottom of the flag pole has additional vertical line and maybe one or two more but I can't remember at the moment lol

They all look the same, very likely from the same die.
Where did you get 3000 AMP quarters from?

I got a box from my bank and bought the rest of the rolls from my work!

So OBW rolls... now it makes sense that you found so many from the same die. OBW rolls tend to have numerous coins struck with the same dies.

Briarmentrout, When I got a complete box of 2019 American Memorial NP quarters, I saw so many of that extra step that I brushed it off. I didn't really take the time to eye ball it. I wished I would have given it a good going over before putting those coins in the return pile; I was distracted with all the West Point quarters I was finding. If they look like a DDR, send it out... just saying.

There's a good chance that even though you probably saw a few hundred of them, there may have only been a few dies there. When it comes to OBW, rarity doesn't determine variety. Since that area of the steps seems to be the exact center, other DDRs for this design will look similar. I wouldn't be surprised if there were multiple dies with similar but inexact doubling.
