G'day,
there is no reason for scammers like this to get discouraged.
With no pics, with a feedback of 2 (1 of them as a buyer), he's got a bid of $1,000.
Where's the downside for him ?
Peter

He has a RESERVE on it? I'd doubt he's a scammer then. Any scammer would just LOVE to get $1000 for a piece of junk.

Let's all ask him for pics...
I asked him to please take a pic and email it to me.
I went on to say if he didn't have a camera, throw it
on a scanner.

I am sorry, but anyone with a computer and neighbors
has access to some way to image this thing.

Also, if the thing has been "quoted at $200k value",
then why didn't he sell it then for $200k?

I asked him; his words:

No I am sorry there is not photo of this penny.

Well, ok...whatever, genius.

Yeah, I really now do think this guy isn't a scammer, just a fool. He probably got a fake re-released into circulation, anyway.

In circulated condition coin is quoted at being worth in access of $200,000. Since this coin has some wear on it I would not expect that much.

What imbecil is going to spend roughly 200K on this coin without even seeing a simple picture. Sounds like a scam to me! -PP

Looks like he just used an image of the same penny in the wikipedia entry:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1943_steel_cent

I knew that image looked familiar...

Well, I guess some scammers are truly stupid. Why on earth did this guy have a reserve? Did he want to make it look like it was worth something then lower it later?

Good deal! He should've expected a bunch of collectors to notice that. It's not like rolls of bronze 43's exist.
