Of course I also collect euro coins, since living in Italy now they are currenrt circulating coins, anyway I collect just 8 standard coins, plus 2 euro Commemorative, no more interested in Commemorative coins minted just for collection or mints business. About favorite design, yes Italy is in the top group, but also Greece and new Slovenia coins are very nice.

Do a lot of people mutilate el Rey's face?
I think the Hogan one is the most creative! He even has the starred hat!

Quote: one of my favorite coins that I own is the belgium 2004 10 euros proof coin with europa on the obverse Nice design, yes. That coin commemorates the 2004 enlargement of the EU. However, that is one of those regional pieces - unlike the regular coins, those collector coins can only be used in the issuing member state. Kind of defeats the purpose of a currency. Well, the Belgian silver coins cannot be had at face value anyway, so hardly anybody would want to spend that coin. @manilagalleontrade: Weren't there plans to put Clara Campoamor on one of the Spanish circulation coins? Have not heard anything about that for quite a while ... Christian

By the way, just a few days ago the new euro coins from Slovakia were issued. Strictly speaking, they won't be legal tender until New Year's Day when the country changes over.
In terms of euro commems (€2), I am eagerly waiting for the Italian "Human Rights" coins. From the pictures that I have seen so far, that seems to be a great design. Certainly better than the "euro/stickman" coins (commemorating 10 years of the euro/EMU) that we are going to get, from each euro area member state, next month.

No news about it and no plans for changes. Maybe in one of the commemorative 2 euros. Quote: Do a lot of people mutilate el Rey's face?
No, nobody does it here. The King is respected and there are laws against it. The graffiti coins (as I call it) are very rare to find, not so many of them. PS: Please do not do it at home
