I would have done the same thing. The coins a lot better than the junk offered. |

I am mostly a buyer on ebay these days. I've had sellers send me the incorrect item a couple of times. I contacted the seller about this and they asked that I send the incorrect coin back. I did and approximately 10 days later I received the correct item and a very nice personal thank you from the seller. The seller paid all but the original postage and both of us left postive feedback. In a normal world that's how it should transpire. Mistakes can happen. Now Pauline ... I hope I never have to enter your world. If I do go back to selling, you name will also be on my blocked list. You were out of line, period. |

Boy did I miss the fun while I was at work! As a seller, I have a few times mailed the wrong item. I always give the buyer several options after either realizing my mistake or after they pointed it out to me. I have even mailed extra coins at no charge to make it up to the buyer. That being said, the feedback was left in haste. He at least offered to make things better, (maybe not all better, like, the cost of shipping it back), but then again, go anywhere and try to return something via mail - you always are out the postage. ebay is WAAAAY to buyer friendly, and most people think that the seller should bend over backwards to make things right. I too, have added you to the block list of my listings. It is nothing personal, and I do add people all the time after I hear things on forums, etc. |

This may sound harsh, but those coins are much better than a bidder could have expected based on the auction you won. It seems like you are seeking validation to your decision to put the screws to a seller twice by taking what you didn't pay for and giving him negative feedback. That is simply awful and if I sold the kind of items that attract bottom-feeding quick-trigger-negative type buyers I hope you would understand that you would be at the top of my blocked bidder list as well. Sorry if this hurts your feelings, but I truly feel for that seller who would definitely have worked with you to make things right if you weren't more interested in getting something for basically nothing.

Wow, what a tempest in a teapot. UNCLEANED Romans usually go for around $2.50 EACH ... and Pauline got 12 of them? What a deal!
As manilagalleontrade stated, this is an example of a communication problem. I have had FAR worse mistakes made with my favorite coin dealer, and he and I just work it out and go on. He's honest and makes mistakes sometimes, and he always offers a refund or replacement.
C'mon, people. Be nice to each other and do the right thing.

Quick trigger!. Its not even an option for any seller to leave negative feedback ,so when people leave bad feedback for a minor reason like this, That is the reason why ebay is going downhill! Losing well respected sellers becuz its a buyer market! Really sad. Sellers should have a chance to leave bad feedback in exchange for ignorant feedback.I left 1 bad feedback in my ebay life and it took me close to 2 months of non communicating and patience for a non received item that I paid for. Here you didnt pay for what you received. Send it back. I msure people will still buy from him even when reading your feedback. SEE. You were quick to leave BAD feedback and then quick to leave a Bad post about the situation and all you got from it was a forums full of sellers blocking you.So to be honest ,the outcome of the whole picture seems like a nice payback for a nonsense feedback! Think before you act! |

If it's OK to be a little bemused here...let me get this straight:  You won an auction amounting to all of £1.70, and you received a group of coins far better than what you actually paid for...
then...you actually complain to the seller, neg them, then come here to complain further about your apparent windfall?  What's wrong with this picture?  |

What should the buyer do now?
I would say, an apology and withdrawal of the negative feedback and offer to pay the difference.
What do you think guys?

It would seem in the buyers mind she is in the right and the short exchange of e-mails constituted a dialog. I suspect what we think will have little bearing on the matter.

Ive got to agree with KurtS's summary , the only part id add is the offended buyer certainly perked up on the forums confirmation that the buyer had in fact made out like a bandit. No thought given to recompensing the wronged seller and a neg feedback to boot.Not very nice.  |

I wouldnt let it put you off too much JackyB , there are some decent reputable dealers on ebay.Worth checking the feedback more than ever these days though. |

Jackyb....About 80% of the coins and medals I own come from ebay and I dont remember ever having a problem with any of the sellers,In fact all have been very polite and friendly!! I generally stay away from overseas dealers (personal preference) ,but the ones I have dealt with were Fantastic to deal with! So,the moral is dont be afraid to BUY on ebay,because of someone elses horror story....Youll miss out on some terrific deals! |
