The strike through left a stain. Maybe a bristle from a brush with grease on it

Second impression is a strike through. I think I'll go with my second impression as With the new better pictures I do not see any movement of metal which would indicate scratches.

Whatever it was wrapped around the coin. Struck through the obverse and reverse

Good point, I missed that. But you already sold me on a strike through

Thanks Dearborn. I missed it myself until a few minutes ago. I wonder if they would label it struck through obverse and reverse. I haven't seen one of those

can you post up a picture of the edge at the strike through point? It may not show because of the reeding, but I'm curious if it does.

Already tried and it wasn't showing anything probably due to glare or just not there. If I can find anything I'll post a picture. They do line up though when you flip the coin. Obverse struck at k7 and reverse at k10

I'm coming around, but I need better photos to say one way or the other. Do you have a USB microscope? You can get one on ebay for about $15

Thanks Dearborn and SamCoin. No microscope yet but I most likely will get one this month along with some cotton gloves and a CherryPickers Guide. The edge shows something there but not much

My vote is scratches = post mint damage. They look like scratches with displaced metal.

Thanks merclover. Since this has a strike through on both sides in my opinion I most likely will be sending this one in to be slabbed

if you do send it in, send it to Anacs as they charge the least amount.
