How Many Canadians Are Coin Roll Hunters?

I just found 2 rolls of American quarters in a box. :)

I used to search regularly, but just started a new job, so it will probably be a while until I can get back into it.

I stopped roll hunting because I often found it difficult to get rolls. The banks I visited were reluctant to give up the few rolls they had, wanting to save them for local businesses.

I will when I move... Roll hunting is great. Why have one, when you can have 40!

I'm hooked on Cdn nickels right now and have gone through 23 boxes since Sept. That makes 6 boxes per month. It can really be addictive once you learn what to look for, get a good "system" going and start finding little treasures. I put on some music, open a bottle of wine and the hours just zip by. A magnet and a 10x magnifier are your best friends.

The advantages with nickel hunting are several: I hoard all the pre-82's for bullion value. One day Ni will return to $15/lb and I'll get 10-15 cents each for the .999 Ni content; they're easier to read than cents and dimes and easier to roll; I roll the USA separately and dump them into a Coinstar when I'm stateside (instant 10% profit!); quarter rolls don't seem to have anything collectible in them anymore, you never find silver, they have no bullion value and a box costs 4x more than nickels; nickel rolls regularly spit out 1930's and 1940's and there are many varieties and errors to watch for.

I found a 1964 EWL after only 9 boxes. I get excited over the 1953's: a "shoulder fold far leaf" is worth $325 in F-12 and a "no shoulder fold near leaf" is worth $750 in F-12! Its only a matter of time...

One bit of advice: put a dot with a Sharpie on the rolls you've gone through so you dont get them back from the banks and do them over! I've been fed back my own rolls several times.

Yes I faithfully search bank boxes but not Canadian coin. I am a "lincoln Variety Junkie" I will however search any roll that comes my way but as far as purchasing... I only purchase 25.00 boxes of Lincoln's. I admit I'm addicted.

All I'm hunting now are cent and nickel rolls. I've had no luck with quarters and very little luck with dimes. In the cent rolls, I've gotten quite a few U.S. memorials and wheaties (the oldest 1915). The nice thing with the cent rolls is that people add dimes and foreign to them as well.
