Is it safe to scan the bill and post it on this site?

Yes. Unless your scanner is radioactive/acidic/basic etc etc

Yes, it's completely safe. We won't steal the serial no. and do... something with it...

I'll be so excited to see the note!

Very nice, only 144,000 1953-A $10 star notes were printed.

Whoa!! And so you found it?!

I think this is at least EF, maybe maybe AU if you can say the crease is a "count mark." It doesn't break the paper does it?

I think around $50 is expected...

May I ask how you came about this note?

Believe it or not, I found it while counting out my cash register at the end of the day when I owned a small business. I noticed an 'odd looking' bill and set it aside. This was about 13-years ago. The best I could guess was that a customer took it out of their collection and spent it at my retail location (God forbid it was taken by a thief and spent). I had found other one dollar silver certs over the years but this was the first ten spot that I had seen.
I attended a coin show recently that happened to be located at the hotel I was staying at. I saw several displays containing silver certificates. I was told to check for the 'star' in the serial number when I arrived home. Sure enough, this is what I found. I had no idea that this bill was a 'keeper' and have held on to it without any knowledge of worth.

Excellent find and it appears that note may grade XF. Retail in XF is $400.

The reverse is attached. I would like to have the bill appraised by a certified ANA appraiser. How is this generally done? Do individuals ship items to appraisers or typically hand carry for 'on the spot' service?

Hi Kenny,
The prices are as follows;EF $325,CU $1350.00,Ch.CU $2000.00
As far as having it professionally graded try https://www.PMGnotes.com or one of the other TPG's not the ANA.

I took the advice above and had the bill professionally graded by PMG. It graded as Choice Very Fine 35 'EPQ'. Anyone able to price this grading?

Well, EF is $325, so VF is somewhere below it. As for pricing, it goes logarithmically, so make a graph and extrapolate it!

Or... go on ebay. You'll be bound to find a similar one.
