Certified coins have been the way to go. Now however, with the fake coins in fake holders, you really have to know the diagnostics of the slabs. These are really a black eye for the numismatic community.

Such a coin slabbed by one of the big 4 TPGs will usually be much higher than a corresponding raw one of course. One cent dealer I would trust would be Jack of Mesacoins/Apache coins. http://apachecoin.com/He buys for a list at most shows in West. Jim |

I bought mine from my local coin dealer. But I am lucky to have a very good dealer that fully backs his coins.
You might try buying one from a CCF member. That might make a great thread with everyone's comments.

Go with a certified coin. PCGS, NGC, ANACS, or ICG. I've heard DGS and SEGS are reliable also. P.S. Lincoln Cent posting are correctly placed on the "Modern US Coin Forum". |

A coin dealer is your safest way to go because they should back up their product. By doing this you usually have a better chance of even finding one or else they could help hunt it down as well. I just wish that I could afford to get one right now because my local show has 2 of them.

I also bought mine from Harlan Berk. In my opinion there are no fakes there, but I would buy one of their slabbed examples. I bought mine in December in AU-53 in an ANACS slab. They have a no questions asked return policy and are knowledgeable and honest. Ask for David.

There is one seller on ebay worth looking at for Lincolns. IRAS4 is his username. Always has nice stuff and very trustworthy. Jack from mesacoins is another that I would not hesitate to purchase from. |
