I have no idea, but I hope someone does.

All it would take is anyone with a 70th addition to open up to page 78 and check the image. I know it's not a big deal or anything either way, typos happen. But as do illegal copy's. I suppose I could send an email to the publishers but it seems much easier to just ask anyone with a 70th addition on hand.

Never noticed before because it is so small, checked my other Charlton's and it is like that on all of them that I have. It wouldn't be the first mistake that Charlton has made.

Thanks JimmyD! Makes me feel better that my copy is not a forgery. When you say your other Charltons you mean different years have the same error? I'm sure they re use photos for newer Charltons so it would make sense if nothing changed they would use the same images from each year after this issue occured. I'm surprised it is in more then one issue though. I wonder if they caught the issue at some point after the 2016 issue and corrected it.
I appreciate the answer as well, this topic has been bugging me for a while lol.
Edit:I plan on getting a 2021 or 2022 charlton when its available so I can check, if it's in the 2021 it would be a quick email to have it fixed from the 2022 Charlton. I assume they have caught it by now even though it's just a small error.

Quote: you mean different years have the same error? Yes, I have five different years and it is like that on them all.

That's a bit surprising, what's your most recent issue? If it's still in the 2021 I may email the publishers to see if it can be fixed for the newest issue(unless it's meant to look like a loading symbol) I would be surprised if I was the first to notice this especially if it's happened several years. Maybe it's just not a big enough issue for them to care about.

Does anyone have the most current Charlton catalogue? I'd love to know if this was sill in the 2021 catalog and if it has been reported already.

I have the 75th edition coming to me shortly. I will check it when it gets here.

Anyone get there 2022 Charlton yet? I'm going to be ordering mine next week. Not sure if Charlton would really care about such a small discrepancy

I'm not sure what "error" you're speaking of. The Charlton book says that the picture shows the right bough of the RF1 Variety of the 1870 nickel. It shows the three 'breaks' of the bough alter it from the RF2 Variety, which only has two 'breaks' of the bough.

I didn't mean coin error I meant the error in the book it self. Leaf #6 should say 6 but it has a loading symbol instead.

Quote: Leaf #6 should say 6 but it has a loading symbol instead. Ahh, OK! I just checked again and now know what you're saying. Both my 2016 (70th ed.) and 2020 (73rd ed) have that same pic. Since I don't care/deal with varieties in my collections, I never really looking at ANY of those pics/pages until now.

Since it was in so many years and so tiny of a mis print its not surprising that it could have been missed. I just happened o notice it my first time through.
Should I ask the moderators to change the name to "do all modern chalrton catalogues have the same misprint"? So there is no confusion with weather I'm asking about a coin error:p.
I have already found out that this is in all the 70th additions I am not just curiouser as to weather it was caught and removed from the 2022 version. If not then I would simply send them an email to tell them about it, though it might be to small for them to care.

I'd be willing to bet that it first appeared in the 2010 edition with the expanded section on Vicky five cents.
