You still did not tell us about your question in detail. What are you specifically asking?

I asked in the title. Is it a basic Indian head coin. It appearred to me that there might be something under the last 8 in certain light conditions.

Are there varieties of the 1888 IHC?
You bet there are; Snow has 35 listed (not including proofs).
Therefore we'll need a larger and SHARPER image of that area.
Current images are not focused well enough.

I'm having trouble keeping the images sharp using the linked image site when I reduce them to under 300kb. Any suggestions of a way to post them at all full resolution.

Anyone? I sure think I see something that looks like a 7 behind that 8.

Yours does not appear to be one to my eye.

@gattigo - the date logo on your coin is way too far left (relative to the bust tip) to be the overdate - not even close. Forget it.

Your coin is not the 8 over 7 variety. There should be other markers for the overdate which your coin does not display. On a genuine 8 over 7, there should be a rim break on the obverse at K-9. Also the tip of the eighth feather should be weak and the 8's in the date would be centered between denticles.

Not the overdate.
