It doesn't answer the important question though. Will the proof cents in the set be copper or zinc?

this is where things will get tricky, it could be that this set will be zinc while the annual proof set will be copper, the other way around, or both one or the other. We will have to wait and see. either way there will be at least 16 different lincoln cents and possibly many more

The special set should be bronze, and probably will be, but you never know with the U.S. Mint.

I'd like to get a set of UNC and a set of proofs but I'm not sure if a UNC set is even planned.

Im a Canadian citizen and collector, however, myself included, I think this is a tremendious coin representing a temendious president.
I had the fortune of visiting Gettysburg approx 2 years ago, which provided me not only an opportunity to see the topography of the area where the bloodiest battle of the civil war took place, but also an opportunity to learn more about the entire war and your great president.
I wouldn't be surprised if I end up buying this coin as well.

When will they post if the lincoln cents are zinc or copper? It's getting close to crunch time, only 9 more days left.

From what I recall reading a while ago, there will be three Lincoln issues for 2009:

1) Commemorative Silver Dollar
2) Collector issue of coins in original 95% Copper and 5% Tin/Zinc
3) Standard issue for circulation in 97.5% Zinc and 2.5% Copper)

We'll know soon enough for sure...

Whatever happened to the lincoln cents being colored copper steel this year?

For the first 30 days I think they said only 100 per household on just the proof or unc. commemorative not the special set

I saw that the max production will be 500,000. Is this a low number? Will it "sell out" like the 2008 American Eagle and shoot up in price?

500,000 is the standard PF/MS combined mintage for commems for at least the past few years, I think the last sellout was the 2005 Marine Corps commem. If the Lincoln does sell out, there is a good chance that it will have some sort of premium in the near future.
