There are also some neat retained die cracks on the reverse.

to the CCF Great start on assembling a set of holed Indian cents, this coin is .... Being a big fan of coin conservation, I'd humbly recommend some gentle swabbing with "Coin Care" or acetone; this, to lift the surface contaminants that, if left unabated, will further corrode the surfaces.

Thanks for all the input. It was definitely an odd find in the middle of nowhere. I'll try the acetone swabbing.

Just curious how long should I soak it in acetone?

Quote: Just curious how long should I soak it in acetone? Acetone, the kind you buy in the hardware store, won't hurt a coin. Personally, I'd let this coin soak for about an hour, then gently swab it with a Q-tip. Considering how green this coin appears, you might repeat the soak & swab. Finally, note the color of the dirty swabs to gauge your success.

Thanks! I think so too. Kind of looks like some possible doubling on the 5 and the one cent in reverse?
