Perhaps a collector has put a cull back into circulation. I do that sort of thing sometimes, myself. As a collector, I may have a much better example, so why not give an avid CRH'er a smile?

Outstanding CRH find.
I searched 389,000 nickels to complete my CRH set and never came across even one Shield coin.

I have seen V nickels but never found one. When I seen this I was a little thrown off. Seeing it being a Shield nickel was better to me than a V.... for now.

Cool! (One question: What is a "loomis roll?")

Loomis is simply the company that deals in transporting money around the country, be it greenbacks to loose change, to rolls of coins...

That's a great find!
Definitely someone put it in the wild to spark interest in collecting!

Wow! What an exciting find! While its value may not be high, with roll hunting you hit a Grand Slam! Congratulations!

A great find in the wild! As others mentioned, it's possibly a "coin drop" by a collector to try and spark interest, but still an extremely unusual find.
