Quote: Is it possible that the Silver Proof set gets a different SD design beyond Selective plating? I think the same design will be used for the Fine Silver Proof Set w/ Selective Gold plating. The Kit Coleman SD is also to be part of a Special Edition Proof Set - maybe the 2023 SE Set will feature a more traditional portrait of Coleman, similar to last year's approach for the SD in the SE Set for AG Bell.

Quote: maybe the 2023 SE Set will feature a more traditional portrait of Coleman, similar to last year's approach for the SD in the SE Set for AG Bell. I sure hope so... I was hoping that the selective plate version would see the light ... I am not a fan of the artifact/word filled silhouette like the AG Bell coin last year or the 2012 UK Mint 2 Pound Dickens coin. I have seen too many lame PowerPoint presentations with these word cloud/artifact cloud graphics to be enthused by them. I also think that the RCM will want to retain room for a large KCIII offering that will likely land in May... We may see 2 Special Edition SDs to make room.

I went online to the RCM website to show my son the double dates on the coins in the Birthday, Baby and O'Canada sets. As I went through the pictures of the individual coins I noticed a boo boo, the 50 cent coin. These sets don't have a 50 cent coin. I guess when the uncirculated set comes out it will have the double dated 50 cent coin, and I would assume the 50 cent rolls will as well. When the uncirculated sets do come out, I imagine they will sell well if they have a double dated loon dollar.

Unfortunately, the gift sets haven't had a 50-cent piece in recent years at all

I agree with commems. Like many recent offerings, the "Kit" design lacks visual appeal.

Commems said: Quote: Is the list complete? I received the January flyer in the mail, and included every coin listed in it. There were no 'usual' sets included this time. I considered, possibly, they are waiting this year to include the King's image on the annual sets. Furthermore, I did also include the back page's inclusion of the 'red knights' coin, and the included flyer indicating the 'pearls' separating the double dates of her Majesty's reign.

@Dcadon: Thanks for circling back re: my inquiry.
The Mint's web site hints that QEII's portrait may continue to be used for the SD in the upcoming Proof Sets:
Also available: The 2023 Fine Silver Proof Dollar honouring Kathleen "Kit" Blake Coleman is included in the 2023 Special Edition Proof Set, and you'll find a selectively gold-plated version in the 2023 Fine Silver Proof Dollar Set.
But a switch to a Charles obverse portrait for these sets is certainly possible..
We'll have to wait and see!

A new coin came from the Mint's email at Midnight last night Quote: 2023 25 Francs Fine Silver Coin Lunar Year of the Rabbit With Jade Coin #1 in a new series of 2 oz. coins with jade! The fun part is it's $324.95 for 2 oz of silver, mintage of 1,888. (I'm assuming it's #1 of 12) I don't think I can support $162.47/ounce for silver regardless if it has a jade applique.

Quote: I'm assuming it's #1 of 12 Likely, as long as Burundi continues to see a profit from coins in the series! Otherwise...

Ordered the SD. Not totally happy with the art work, but need to keep the set going.

I also ordered the Coleman SD this week. As mentioned, the artwork is similar to what was done with last years' A.G. Bell SD. I'm hoping the SE Proof Set will show a 'real' face, even though I have no idea what she actually looked like. I just checked my RCM account; I shouldn't expect delivery until the second week of February.

THANK-YOU commems! If I wasn't such a lazy-asterisk I should have checked out the internet myself. Nice picture.
