Found my first of these in circulation this week as well, nice understated design. A lot of RCM designs are just too busy or otherwise ugly but they haven't done too bad lately with coins like this and the olympic quarters. If I came across a fresh roll of these at the bank I would hang on to them for sure.

I mentioned the scarcity of these to a coin dealer yesterday. She claims that most of these were sent by the Mint right to Quebec instead of being distributed through the rest of the country evenly. I have my doubts about this, though.

Mind you, she did have a nice one for sale that she was willing to give me for $4.50.

I turned her down flat; seemed a bit opportunistic of her, I thought.

That's exactly what the mint did and is it's the same thing they're doing with the Montreal Canadiens loonie right now. Lucky for me I have a relative who lives in Ottawa and picked me up a couple rolls.

Just last week I got my first one from circulation in North Vancouver. It came from someone who was from Quebec, and had dinner at a Persian restaurant in West Vancouver, operated by people in my family. My son saw the twonie, and grabbed it for me!

I have yet to see the 400 Quebec loonie and probably won't see the Habs one either.

Thanks Andre. Missing are the 2008 Figure Skating and Bobsleigh, 2009 Speed Skating and what ever is released later in 2009 or 2010 such as the 2009 Ice Sledge Hockey Paralympics.

The Quebec toonie in the folder with the medallion - is that the silver toonie? The card has no coin specifications on it at all. It looks as though one puts their own coins from circulation into the card except it was sealed in a plastic cover with toonie inside card but no other 2008 1c to $1 circulation coins. Very strange collectors card indeed.

If not silver, what was the silver one housed in? Of an I being confused and there was no silver Quebec toonie.

Wayne
