Aha... looking through my book I note a Five Pounds coin of Egypt - (where is Eg. Collector when you need him!) with the head of this guy, a President Nasser and the funny symbol below the bust. I do not have this denomination though but I guess it must be 50 Piastres?..

You're right--it's Egypt and Nasser.

This coin isn't in my Krause World Coins Circulating Issues book.

Did they just miss it, or is it a commemorative...or some other reason?

I was at the clinic, making some crowns, drilling holes and extracting some teeth. Simply torturing some patients.

Nice coin NumisMattyUk

For a moment there I thought you were in a coin clinic aha! a rare occupation these days indeed..

Thanks for the info, - especially the mintage info. - though I think the pricing data for these kind of coin is always a little mean

These prices are from Krause 33rd edition so it is not very accurate, but it is all that I have

Hah.. actually I said that by accident - I was referring to the dental profession, where dentists are rare these days (at least in the UK) but I made a bad job of the sentence. Yes, indeed it would be great to be a coin vet and make coins better :P

The coin is silver, and issued in 1970, when silevr had mostly disappeared from circulating coins worldwide - so it probably wasn't intended for circulation.

Well, I'll be happy to work in the UK if you have a vacant position for me.

Am I right in saying hat only the Mexican Pesos (50,100?) hav any silver in them at all now?

EgCol' - The last I heard, there was a shortage so if you wanted to work in this raindrenched country you would probably be very welcome.

Does the 50 still? My Krause does not show any circulating after 1995, same as the 20 pesos.
