It will be at least a few days before I update with the soak results. Out of acetone at the moment. At least for now I'm optimistic about it. I've cleaned layers of foreign material, including glue, before and I am not seeing any of the definite tells ie seam where glue layer would terminate, no signs around the rim or letters suggesting irregular depth of field, all possible defects appear to recess into the field, and a few craters extend into a raised letter/number reducing it.

To be honest I just want a blackhole sun coin in the collection. Now that I am thinking about it I need to start looking for a zig zag die crack to be my Metallica Ride the Lightening coin.

Soak process:
100% acetone for 24 hrs in sealed container to prevent evaporation (w/ periodic agitation)
Dabbed dry with paper towel to also check for sticky surface (some glues will soften but not dissolve)
Probed surface with tooth pick for soft areas or possible seams
Inspected surface and compared to the before pics

The soak resulted in no change to the coin. I included the soak process above for any feedback to improve it.

Thoughts?

Can you get a close up of one of the 'objects' on this coin - use a single source of lighting and from an angle to create a small shadow.

This is what happens when a mint employee is hit with a sudden 3x sneeze attack on a blank before striking ( commonly referred to as a sneezer)

@dearborn they are incuse and I'll get some close ups as requested

@EricH never heard of a sneezer but would explain the volume of surface defects. Know where I can find an example of one?
