Just saw an episode of "The Fall guy" on TV where the person they were chasing had a stolen 1916 S SLQ.
Claimed it was an error coin with on 2 known.
When they showed it being put into a pay phone they showed the reverse of a SLQ. Probably didn't want to show the front of a T1 SLQ on prime time TV.

Sorry no screen caps, Anyone have the series on DVD?

Do you remember anything else about this episode? I just looked through a list of synopses for all the episodes, and none of them mentioned a rare coin.

The episode would have been season 4 ep16 "Sheriff Seavers"

Only caught the end of episode where Colt figures out one of the guys (not the main episode villain) had stashed the coin in a jail cell and was rearrested to retrieve it.

Grabbed from YouTube, 41:01 minutes in. Awfully blurry, but there it is.

From the transcript, it's a 1916-S Standing Liberty quarter, worth $111,000, "only two of them like it in the world". Scene starts around 39:35 minutes.

This picture is from an episode of "The Rifleman" titled "Tinhorn":

Coins and cards on the table

The coins appear to be imitations of Spanish "Bust" 8 reales or peso coins.

I've just watched a very interesting programme on the UK's Channel 5 about the introduction of Decimal Currency in the UK. There are lots of shots of pre-decimal and decimal coins plus an interview with the widow of Christopher Ironside, the designer of the first decimal coins (and model for Britannia!)

Views from outside the UK should be able to watch it with a VPN!

In the Seinfeld episode The Glasses, George loses his glasses and is on the hunt for a new pair. He and Jerry are talking in Jerry's apartment and all of sudden George squints and says he sees a dime at the other end of the room. He walks over, picks it up and says "Huh, Mercury head!" Jerry lets him keep it, though he's completely befuddled as to how George was able to see a dime from so far away without his glasses.

What befuddles me is why a Mercury dime would be sitting in a corner of Jerry's apartment in 1993!
