whoa! don't toss it yet - This could be something and maybe not, but a closer look is necessary to determine that before you toss it back.

thanks for the new images - they are just fine. However, they do show a deep furrow created by a blade or something, I can see the zinc exposed in it. The high point we see is where the metal got moved to curing the cut. so, unfotunately, this is a damaged coin.

With the new images posted, it's definitely damage 100%. The metal was pushed and piled up, during the cut.
Errers and Varietys.

I would not be to hasty in tossing it out. The images can be deceptive here. Without the coin in hand, I would hesitate to offer a definitive opinion on this one.

Agree with Dowhat. I'd hold on to this one until I could have an expert take a look "in hand".

Just damage. If it was a strike through or struck in, there wouldn't be anything above the surface of the coin. It looks like you have a buildup of metal beside the scratch.

I am by no means an expert here but only offering observations of my own based one the provided images. In the OP's first close up in the opening, where the anomoly meets the rim. There is a void in the scratch/wire, that does not fully extent to the rim. It almost appears that scratch/wire, has been slightly displaced southward where it begins/ends. Leaving an incuse trough corresponding to the width of said anomoly. If this is struck thru an object, perhaps the tip of exacto knife might dislodge it further. In addition, the damage to the rim is much wider than the small path the anomoly follows to the other end. A sharp object scratch across the coin from either direction should appear as about the same width at rhe rim. It is not. The damage @ the rim is somewhat wider and irregular. Could not on object between the die and planchet originally extended beyond the striking chamber and clipped off by the collar deployment then strike? Secondly,a later close up from the rim to bust, across the field appears to be a bit lower than the rest of the field creating a slight valley on each side of the anomoly that increases in width toward the rim. Would not an object on the surface prevent an even flow of material during the strike? Also this "Valley " narrows moving to the west. And it just so happens that where the field intersects with the relief of the bust, there is yet another disruption in the continuity of the scratch/wire that corresponds to the direction of the anomaly @ the rim. These are just questions in my thinking. Maybe I am thinking to hard. But I am not positive that this is PMD without this one in hand.If so, and I was still questionable, I would go the exacto route. Another chunk pops out, struck thru. .
