The problem doesn't come from the different varieties of finishes in any given series.
The only issue ever is the huge increase in mintage year after year.
Of course imho.

Yeah, I understand. The variety of finishes is just example, of RCM basically releases same coin from year to year. Increasing mintages - also contributes of reduced demand. It will sell out eventually. |

For the Allegory of Peace I have seen the weight listed at 132.14g (99.39g outer ring and 32.75g cast core). I would have liked the RCM to make this as a 5 oz coin, it seems odd at 4 plus oz. I also don't understand why the Peace dollar over a year after QEII's passing and dated 2024 (2 year date difference) still bears Queen Elizabeth on the obverse. Will the Canada 160 coins in 2027 still be bearing the Queen's portrait? |

Oh, I understand that completely, but I just think the RCM could have waited two more months before releasing the newest Peace dollar. That way, there would actually be a clear difference between the issues. |

I have seen the RCM blurb (for about a year now) What I'm wondering from the RCM is why a process that was done largely by hand in 1952 resulted in Queen Elizabeth appearing on coins early in 1953 (wihin a year of ascension)) and with all the advances in technology there couldn't have been an effigy of King Charles ready in a similar amount (or less) of time for a 2024 dated Peace dollar. |

@smuglr: I don't believe the timeline is a matter of technology, so such arguments are not really relevant. It's more of the current approval process within the Royal Family and its advisors.

@commems I mention technology because there is no excuse, imho, in 2023 for the effigy to not be in place. Designs can be produced and transmitted back and forth for approval in short order. I can't agree with it being a Royal Family and their advisors issue. King Charles' effigy is on 2023 dated Royal Mint product. It's like getting mail for a deceased relative a year+ later, to me it disrespets the Queen. It is a 2024 dated coin. I respectfully have to stick with it being a RCM or Government of Canada issue. |

My wish did come true :The first Uncirculated Set of the reign of His Majesty King Charles III & Last Strikes Uncirculated Set became available at the RCM site. I was online at the RCM site to put in my orders, however, the site crashed  As of 4:43 pm today (Nov. 14, 2023) still can't get back on. Oh well, my order is half way through.  Edited by Sharks
