So I can open my 1962 set? Darn, I paid extra!

You don't have to open it. Google unsealed mint sets and see what comes up. I think I have seen a few shows where Rick Tomaska has mentioned that the mint did not seal the envelopes before sending them out. Some sets get sealed from pressure and moisture and some on purpose by people who bought them. Not 100% sure though. There was some posts on cointalk about this subject as well. John1

Oh man, I have about 20, 50's & 60's mint sets that I truly thought were sealed at the mint. It's Christmas Time and I am a present opening fool!

You'll never know if a gem cameo is in there unless you open it.

Not sealed. They have been looked at a few times. Someone sealed them up down the line.

I found my Mint Sets box, and they are all indeed sealed. Now they spent most of the last 45 Years in Wash. DC area, and it is plenty Hot & Humid there, so probably as mentioned above the environment caused the glue to activate. I'm not going to open any of them for the time being.
