There was nothing wrong with it at all. I know how to behave here.

Good find Keith. I didn't realise the bubbles made a maple leaf.

I figured it was on me in the end. Thanks jbuck. Spent all that time typing it only to mess it up.

If I could get paid for my mess-ups I would be soooo rich.

I could be mistaken on the following:
1) I believe this is the second design used for these tokens since that press was added to the lobby.
2) I believe they use the same plachettes(?sp) as the fifty cent pieces.
3) I believe it has/had been "out of order" for several years.
I asked about it (because I had recalled it being "out of order for years prior") and the friendly lady behind the counter actually gave both of my kids one; They were eight and six, and it was their first visit to the mint (maybe my thirtieth; I miss doing the whole loop).

Adding to unruhjonny's response:
1) The first design was a large Loon, like on the loonie. It had a large date for 2011 and then just the date changed in 2012. If I remember correctly, In 2013 the machine was down until Canada Day and that point forward the design was the bubbles as pictured above.
2) Yes 50 cent size. At a quick glance the first version looked like a nickel loonie.
3) The machine was randomly down in 2011-2013 as well. It cost 3 loonies to make 1 token. There was no limit.
4) I think the Vancouver boutique had a similar machine which made copper tokens. More crude looking.

NahCoins. Top quality answer. Thank you. I've seen the loon 1st run, still need one though. Stick around. Lots to learn here.

More information on this, and older versions dating back to early 2000s, are in the back of the 72nd edition Charlton Catalogue (2019).
