Looks more like a bent coin somebody tried pounding back into shape with a piece of leather over the obverse.

Marve65: That's what it may "look like", but that's not what it is

I agree with Marve - a bent coin. Doesn't look like a Greaser to me.

Check this extreme error out! It was struck through a ball bearing, creating a hole in the middle of the coin!!! Crazy error!! In addition, there were a number of wires on the reverse die, creating another strike though error! I know this coin looks damaged, but it is not, these are errors!! Don't even try to disagree, because I know everything! Ball bearings were invented in 1794, so that makes it true! What a spectacular error, one of a kind!

Fantastic error, Red Raider - that's a really valuable coin! I think that I see multiple Cuds on it too. Your coin reminded me that I have this 1808 Half Cent that was struck through Thomas Jefferson's kerchief - on both sides! He was still in office that year so it must be true.

Hahaha you guys are funny; we're all ROLF When you stop being juvenile, you may learn something btw: There is a difference between a coin being bent, and a coin being struck by a sinking die Here's a link to a mid-die state example; sure looks "bent" to me, but it isn't; the sinking of the reverse die is obvious and that is irreversible https://auctions.stacksbowers.com/l...-45-pcgs-cac

"Having the rims upset after striking is a ridiculous and misleading statement. Rims on a coin were meant to assist detail to be fully struck along the edge of the coin. Without an upsetting mill pre-strike, the dentils would hardly be seen on any coin."I have it in hand now, before shipping-off tomorrow to be certified and sold. Here is a clear pic of the Upsetting ameliorating the edge incursion @ A2 reverse. You can actually see the rounded edge in this earlier picture. Plenty of denticles too! I'll have other pics...

jacrispies: I proved no such thing... honestly I can't figure-out what your "game" is. You never saw it in hand (so how you can blithely decree anything? It's like you're living Plato's Parable of the Cave. The coin is completely Upset over the edge damage. The die break line at AMER... shows clearly on top of the M. Struck through whether you like it or not. What more do you want? Parable of the Cave Plato's "Allegory of the Cave," found in Book 7 of The Republic, outlines a philosophical journey from ignorance to enlightenment.

This shows the real length of 1/2C denticles "back then"

Is that just for Half Cents, or did large cents also have longer denticles than I would have guessed?

Upsetringmill: The denticles were punched in from the edge of the die
