Mule coins have always made me wonder the following question: "How does an organization (R.C.M.) that specializes in minting Canadian coinage (and does nothing else) make such a horrific Error?" You would think they would have incorporated sooo many checks and balances as to have prevented this sort on mistake! But then again, anything that is run by the federal Government should not surprise us. Glenn

They don't specialize in minting Canadian currency and nothing else glenzy, they mint all kinds of things for various countries. Including New Zealand.
They bid on outsourced jobs just like the US mint etc..

I have 2008 and 2007 Alpine Skiing both are not coloured leaf on reverse.
The 2008 one is ICCS MS-66 certified but ICCS just not willing to use the word - "Mule", only stated as "2008 Alpine Skiing"
Could these two be counted as Mule?

Does anyone think that these will be worth a lot of money? Why are USA mules worth so much more?

I bought it from ebay on 2008. I saw a news about the R.C.M. claimed bewaring the color removed on 2008 coloured Alpine Skiing on that year, but this one is ICCS certified and can not see anything about cleaned/removed marks via 10x loupe. So, it should be real untouched coin. unfortunately, can not find any info on the Catalogue. And, the previous owner(seller) said RCM would not admit this coin exist. I don't know why. Does anyone has ICSS report can give a hand? Did the ICCS report mention this coin?

Is the Nunavut mule only found in sets ? I have a friend that has 2000 Nunavuts , is it a waste of time to go through them.

sanong, I'm kind of hoping somebody who knows the whole story will answer your questions, because I can't, but I'd like to know. Mr.C, the Nunavut mule was the result of a proof reverse die used on a very limited number of pliofilm sets by mistake, and these sets are the only place you will find the mule.

I just received one of these Nanuvut mules that I bought at a TCNC auction a few weeks back. It is ICCS graded as PF-67, but no mention of the mule in the auction description or on the ICCS card. I was curious about it not having a rim when I received it, as my Charlton does not mention it. I had to check another book, and there it was! This string now confirms it!
Anyone have any idea how many of the silver mules there are and what they are currently worth?
All input is greatly appreciated.

To date, there are no silver mules. For proof strikes, the coin was intended to be struck like that (i.e., a seamless ring to core). The existing mule is that the non-silver coins found in the PL sets were struck with the proof dies. For your coin to be a silver mule, it would not have the seamless ring to core transition. If that is the case, please post a photo so we can further examine it.

My apologies on my above post. I got confused about which coin the mule occurred on. I thought that it was on all, not just the ones issued in the set. My mistake! *but now I have something else to look for!)

"Does anyone think that these will be worth a lot of money? Why are USA mules worth so much more?" The USA mules are worth way more mainly because there are way more USA collectors. More demand = higher prices. It's the same flaw in the argument that NFLD coins have to go up in price, because they are so rare...but scarcity without demand will not cause the price to rise. The (relative) lack of demand for Canadian coins is what keeps a lid on the price. For example, one of the rarest Canadian coins in high grade (1921 50¢ in MS 65-66) can be had for around $250K. In contrast, there are many US coins with higher price tags. http://goldcoinblogger.com/top-10-m...nsive-coins/
