One problem, like stated before 64 Little trophies? Isn't that too much. The whole forum will eventually be filled with them. But I still Like it!

No thats not too much. We have 1,000+ members and only 64 of them will have these. I am working on something to stop counterfits or fake trophies. Hopefully no one would do this. Please nominate people so far here are people that have been nominated. 1.dsking 2.coolg35748 (yes I can be nominated)

Before everyone gets carried away, there is one little protocol that needs to be observed....and that is courtesy.
Susan (Forum MoM) and Bobby (Forum DaD) are the owners of this site and they must be consulted and permission given before embarking on a project like this. To do otherwise would be disrespectful.
The formation of the Knights, the running of each Giveaway....all sought permssion and it was given before we proceeded any further.

Hi coolg Im in agreement with Lim, this project Idea has been presented and must now go through the process of being discussed and sanctioned by the Administration and Moderators. In comment to your above post,, If something is given away and it is called an award it is considered a giveaway, whether or not it has monitary value. Rick

I agree with metelman and lim. that before you get to involved in this make sure to what tell bobby and susan get back from there other house and let them help you wiht this idea and let them say if you should do it or not. Also I do not know how well it will work, you do not want members to get there felling hurt by them thinking they are doing alot on to add info but if they are not nominated then they may feel like there post are meaningless. also there are some who only post once in a while but they are alot of help just with there one or two post a week. so it is hard to say who is the member of the week to hard to judge. also if someone is interested in only US coin thsy may not see a member who collects canadian coin they may be a the member of the week but may not get votes since who ever nominates may not look at that. Just my opion on this but before you go to deep in this what tell mom oks it. And I agree it should ran under contest.

I will have to jump on board with lim and metalman concerning this issue. I also don't understand what is going to be accomplished by promoting such an event or award? Quite frankly I will be the first to say the only thing I want in my sig line is what I put there and I will not under any circumstances relingush that right. I don't watch foolish awards programs on TV so I am not really a fan of starting them here. I will agree, regardless of how you may proceed or whatever the majority would like, that it should be done in the contest section. One thing to keep in mind is this is a COIN COLLECTING forum.

This is a nice idea, but I will agree with the other Mods and add 1 what is the criteria? 2 How do we prevent popularity contests? 3 If the recognition is any more than email - for most of our members it would take more than a week to get to them. 4 Is this a forum member of the week or do we have one in each country or continent? 5 what about the many forum members who sit in the background until a question is asked then supply "wonderful meaningful information" 6 Do members have the right to pull their name out of a posible nomination pool?
Your idea has merit but when you are dealing with and international group, there is much to think about before launching. Give Susan and Bobby a few days and they will add their comments for approval or not.
Keep collecting and coming up with GREAT ideas- this is what makes the forum the Best Thank you for getting this thread going

I think many times we jump in with an idea which seems good, but without having thought it through. I am certainly guilty of doing that.
The idea is well intentioned, but give it thought. And, yep, it belongs in the contest section if you proceed.

I am going to consult forum mom and dad. If I did this though I would start a new forum and make it really organized and such. I would just like to keep in tact that I will be running this. I am going to rethink the requirements and such. Please post what features you would want it to have so I can work off of that. Once it hopefully gets approved I am going to start a new topic in the contests and we will start from there. Forum mom or dad if you are reading this please tell me if it is okay to do this. Thanks-coolg35748

First of all, I appreciate the thought that has gone into this idea. I have to say, though, that I'm concerned about individual members being singled out since we have so many great members with terrific contributions to this forum.
I would be very interested to see what criteria you are considering for this. All of our members are very important to this forum whether they post frequently or occasionally. Each has something to share - whether it be questions, answers, interesting facts or stories, etc. How will you judge what posts have more or less merit?
Please email me with your proposal to susan@coincommunity.com.

Cool: This is a nice idea. If it came to your mind as an appreciation of the help that I've given you...well I thank you for that! Susan's comments (and the others) are well stated.
I would like to add that this would be a large project for you or for anyone to monitor and to keep up with. Maybe it would take too much time away from your collecting and I don't think you'd be happy with that. Maybe if someone has received a particular answer to a question or comment or something that they really appreciate then they always have the option of a public "Thank you" on the forum.
Again, though, thank you for your thoughts!

I read this and I think back to my days of highschool. That about sums up my thoughts.
