I know it's not the real thing, that's why I was amazed at the bidding. But you've seen them for $1000? The mind boggles!

I purchased one of these for a customer for less than $80.00 2 weeks ago off this guy....the one he sent me was rubbish. He promised a replacement and still waiting. Says he sent it Wednesday so I am not panicking yet.

It's a pretty decent reproduction. Unfortunately, most collectors can never imagine owning an authentic 1930 penny and have to settle for a reproduction to make up their full set. Don't worry, I'm not a big penny collector so was quite baffled the first time I saw one of these selling in the hundreds of dollars on ebay.

well, its like the 1964-D Peace dollar, everyone knows they existed at one time but if you want one you got to buy a fake because owning a original is against the law

Some collectors fill the 1930 Penny slot with a 1930 English Penny, others use an "Altered Date" Penny or a Reproduction Penny.

It would depend on what one can afford......I know myself that if I purchased a "real" one my wife would kill me.

That 'repro' was a load of rubbish.I wouldn't have one of these, even if you gave me a million Quid to put one of these in my collection. In that case,I'd take the 1,000,000 Quid & run! Of course,I'd buy a real 1930 Aussie 1d. in the process!
