Though the 1922-1925 are the toughest of the George V series, the '26 and '27 are also somewhat tough, and missing from a lot of cent albums. As mentioned, the others (with description) are: 1948, last "A" in "Gratia" points to a denticle, with the small denticles. 1949, last "A" in "Gratia" points to rim denticle 1953 SF, "I" in Dei" points to a denticle (much more scarce in the higher grades) 1955 NSF, "I" in Dei" points between two denticles (scarce in any grade) 1965 T4 (large beads, pointed 5). "A" of "Regina" points at bead, 5 is pointed 1985 PT5, same as the point of the top right of the 5 on 1965, but less pronounced. 2006 no mint logo, no "P", magnetic Edited by 1cent

Thanks all, I looked through them last night and I know the oldest one I bought was 1940 and go all the way to 1974, I will take some pictures and post them as I am not sure what to exactly look for but I would love to learn as I love the Canadain small cents. Thanks All. Dan

It is a great series CC, if not the most collected one, then certainly one of the most collected. A complete, middle of the road set can be put together for quite a reasonable price, including all the key dates and varieties. For those that want something fancier, you can spend almost as much as you want seeking out the highest MS graded coins, some running into the thousands or even tens of thousands (or hundreds of thousands with the 1936 dot). It's a set for any collector.

I always found it a little difficult when starting out in coins (not that I'm far along) to know that the line was perfectly centered with the common way most people do so I line it up parrallell to the inside left of the A. It does not point to or point between but I know what to look for.

Ahh, I see...makes sense. I find using the "A" when looking at a lot of coins to be tiring
on the eyes. The "I" in "gratia" is always the opposite orientation of the "A", that is to say that if
the "I" points between, the "A" will point to (and vice versa). It can be easier than trying to draw
a theoretical line in your noggin while straining your sight under a loupe.

Hi Alln Now I got a small collection of about 10 rolls total that have the King George V and VI dating back to 1920. any thing to look for here? will post up pics of dates requested.

Quite helpful, looks like I will be going through my 48's and 49's again!!
Has anyone here found 22-25's in loose or rolled change? I have gone through about 60 rolls lately and not one from the 20's yet!

It's a tough call. The denticles in the photo are a bit fuzzy.
A very experienced fellow on another site says the "I" of Gratia will seem to fit in between small denticles.
