is the 1928 penny the only one that involved a large or small S mint?

Yes. Most likely the wheat cents are common dates worth about 3-4 cents each.

Lafaa, that's what I was thinking, the seven seems lower, but does the s lookikng bolder or the other s being so close to the date mean anything?

In this case, I believe Laafa is correct. They both appear to be Large Date, or "Low 7." Also "Liberty" appears to be too strong for a Small Date, although it may be weak on a Large Date also. I have not seen any information (yet) regarding the position of the MM. The lower end of the 9 does not apear to curve upward enough for a Small Date as well.

going through the dates, it seems like the only pennies that may be worth a little more than normal are the 1970-s, is that an accurate assumption, not really sure how to read that chart though.
