CJ, can you post a pic of the supposedly clipped planchet on the edge?

I have no opinion on the beakless bird but on the missing area - MHO is that it is not mint damage. The edges on the 3 pennies I have all have very crisp edges from the cooker cutter way they punch press the coins. On your coin I don't see any crisp edges - I see rounded edges. If I had to decide I would not buy this as an error coin. Just my humble opinion.

I see Blakesly effect on the reverse of the clipped coin

looks like the beading has an appropriate stretch to me on the clip. The rim has a weird partial indent and frankly I'm not sure. No call there one way or the other. I like it.

The guy without the beak is unusual but if you look at the upper half of the penny as a whole, it's weakly struck as far as I can tell. The "1 cent" and upper beading seem to lack crispness while the coin surface is relatively nice.

Edit: typed in the wrong term

It is a minor incomplete(clipped) planchet, the Blakesley Effect is weak but most noticeable on the effigy side.

As an aside, if you are not well versed in error diagnostics then it is just best to not post anything as to avoid confusion

Wowzer, Quite the commotion going on in here! I appreciate all of the comments, no matter. Funny thing about opinions.....everyone has got one! I sorta knew when I posted, that I was opening myself up to just about anything. Lafaa you are a little quick to judge with no real basis, or explanation, you should probably watch that. No worries, it is no where near enough to make me mad, and pack me up.

I will try to get an edge picture later. Hi ho, it is off to work I go!

I have 114 Canadian 5 cent clips. ......... a large percentage of the "curved clips" show the point. The depth of the point may vary as well.

No problem. You must learn as we all did. :-) I think all some were trying to say is to please use the term "In my opinion" but I am learning errors or something like that! :-) Regards MM

Now that I have had a chance to read everything, I would say that I have learned a thing or two on this subject myself. The Blakesley Effect link was very informative and interesting.

"I have 114 Canadian 5 cent clips"
"I might have one"
