I'm still working with the scanner trying to get the hang of the pics...I cant get close without it distorting. I tried to adjust it so you could see the 7.

Sorry, we can't see it. Try experimenting by putting the coin under a desk lamp, and then hold a magnifying glass (or a loupe) right under the camera lens. It'll probably take you an hour to figure that out the right settings, but once you got it you got it.

It does look like a 7. Not sure if it really is, or it's an optical illusion caused by the corrosion.

I see what you mean...but there is on documented 1888/7 in that position.
The main marker for the one confirmed 1888/7 is the tail of the 7 protruding from the 8 at 6:00:

I've seen the Chinese counterfeits of this overdate, where you can clearly see the '7' over the '8'. as you can see in DVCollector's great picture, the real one is much more subtle.

Good job on the pix, it is not the Chinese counterfeit that I mentioned. I can't see the left side of the bottom of the 2nd 8 so I can't say whether it's the overdate or not.

It's a tough call...I dont think that is the 8/7
the anomaly below the 8 on your coin is more prominent than the 8/7 mark
could be damage or corrosion.

Compare the position of the 1 in the date to the bust--between the verified 1888/7 and your coin.
The overdate for this year is extremely rare--but somebody found one in dealer stock a while back...

Rick Snow hasn't seen an 1888/7 Snow-1 without the Cud. They should theoretically exist, but none are known.

Are you referring to the slightly curved line at 3 oclock, from the last "8"?. If so, that is a "hit".. it is too far away to be a part of the 'date", when it was punched.
While looking at it under high magnification, I also checked the "america", to see if it was doubled. It is not. I have one that IS doubled, but I can't be sure if it is an 1888/1887.
DVCollector, that is an impressive RPD on the image you posted.

(but I can't be sure if it is an 1888/1887). Mine is 1887, and america is doubled from K-9 pivot.
