okay okay I will give away my secrete well I read you need sulfate for this so I tried using various dandruff shampoos on them ... that dosnt work you will fry you coin every time! so well you know when gasoline runs into water and it makes that rainbow in the water well I got my idea from that. so I put some coins in a lamp and the lamp caught fire to the desk ....

GOOD HEAVENS ! .....   I certainly hope your " lab experiments" are taking place in a "detached" area seperate from the house ! ....  It just goes to say....."Purposely damaging coins can kill ya !" ...

Rainbow toning effect is beautiful.  Can it be done on Silver Proof coins?

im nt sure if it will work with silver or not .. I only have a few silver coins so I probably wont try any time soon.
also ony about 2 out of every 5 coins come out looking good the rest are ruined.so I doubt I will test any silver

It would work but I am not sure why you would want to do that because it would ruin a perfectly good proof coin. Trying this on face value pocket change is one thing but it should not be done to any coins with collector value.

Besides your are right Biokemist6, it should not be done to any coins with collector value.

i agree not on coins with value .. also the rate may go up if I had more practice there's alot of timing to it . if you pull them out to early you only get light blue. if too late you get black
