Quote: Do you think its fair to do this to me and make me eat all the shipping + other fees I would assume you offer free shipping? The outbound shipping would be the only fee you should "eat" in this case where the buyer had "head up posterior".

Heh, it seems the only resources earth is not running out of are rudeness and dimwittedness. All the more reason I tend to avoid the bay.

Dispute closed in my favor after a call...LOL
Unlikely I will get the feedback removed, but hey, I won most of this.

Who called whom? Did he leave the feedback before or after you sent that message to him?

Shadow: Did he already neg you or are you just anticipating it? I went back through the posts and I don't see anywhere that you specifically said he negged you...? If he has, I'd fight it.

He already did. It was this morning I think. I called up ebay and they said it technically didn't violate the guidelines but they'd 'review' it. Sounds like it's not going anywhere.

ShadowCreator, I can certainly relate to your experience with buyers that don't exactly pay attention. I don't know if you have that top-rated seller status, but if you do it's worth protecting. When I occasionally get an unreasonable buyer, I just bite my lip and go with it. The item can always be resold for around the same price, and a few $ in shipping is not a big deal considering the importance of keeping your feedback and DSR's intact for the top-rated status. I can say from experience that it does make a significant difference in auction results (when you have the feedback to back up the badge). Yes, there is much temptation to vent. It's also important to keep in mind that, although your presumptions of how the buyer would act were correct, this will not always be the case. I have had a couple of situations when there was a genuine issue that at first glance seemed like just a jerk buyer. If I went off and spoke my mind, the situation would have turned out bad for me and the fault would have really ended up being my own. Even if you think a buyer will leave bad feedback or low DSR's due to their feelings about the item (whether reasonable or not), great service will impress some people to the point of changing their mind. Great, unconditionally polite service is rare on ebay and the majority of buyers take notice of it. Always good to save the venting for the forums. =) PS: It's both surprising and refreshing that you were able to win the claim. Paypal rarely decides in the sellers favor in "not as described" cases, even when all the evidence is obviously in the sellers favor. Hopefully this is a sign that the bureaucratic standards are becoming just a little more logical. Cheers!

..... You miss several points; you offer a seven day return policy. I am trying to return them within the seven day policy. There is a place for the return policy and you clearly have it stated that your policy is the Buyer may return the coins within seven days. Your other vague statement in the body of the listing is confusing and does not trump your stated return policy. You write to me that the coins are ?junk? so therefore you admit they are junk. However, your listings states they are ?bullion? and the listing does not state the coins are junk. You appear to be rude and have a chip on your shoulder; all I asked to do was to return the coins under your return policy. You wrote back, you only had forty cents in your Pay Pal account and you do not sell much under the account on ebay. Those statements do not promote the good of customer relationships on ebay. Your return policy should be clear and your correspondences with other ebay members should be in the spirit of cooperation. - coinmasters Btw Numismat I agree with you, but I've never sold enough to get in the top rated seller camp, and I plan to start a new SN if I ever sell seriously. So I wasnt too flustered over the neg really....was surprised/refreshed to win the paypal dispute as well. Calling them up at their US number directly seemed to help a lot. The two folks I talked to, for once, were very reasonable.

I've found paypal people to always be reasonable when on the phone, it's the e-mail help system that is the problem!
Based on that latest message from the buyer to you, it almost seems like they knew full well what they were buying. He may just be one of those people not with a chip on their shoulder, but a stick up their rump. The sad truth is: there are people out there who have nothing better to do with their time than create a hassle for a seller just because they believe they can do it and still have their money refunded. His message is composed from a very intellectual standpoint. By this I mean that he is making references to specific policy not because he genuinely feels that someone got over on him, but because he knows he can use these things and still seem genuine. The results of your case went in the opposite, and ethically correct, direction (for once). More power to you man! =)
