Neat finds - my lowest is 00002384, long ways to go to catch up, but I'll keep looking.

Yes neat notes sel....would be even neater if you still had them.

There are a few basic differences between U.S. notes and most foreign notes though, and one would be the number of digits in the serial number. The notes that you mention have only six digits versus eight for U.S. notes, so the law of averages prefers your chances of getting lucky with those Brit notes over U.S. notes. I have many low serial numbers from foreign countries where the digits number only five or six.
Another difference is there are no other collectors quite as crazy over low serial numbers as are Americans, so the low serial numbers are snatched up as fast as they hit actual circulation, and most times, even before, by bank tellers and other speculators. In other countries, low serial numbers may float in circulation for a very long time, if not the entire life of the note.

It also depends on what a person considers a low serial number to be. On U.S. notes, I consider low to refer to numbers under 1000. On certain foreign notes, I consider low to be under 100.

These two aren't quite as low as the ones posted already but they are a nice pair of repeaters 00003131 I have one each of Series 1969-D and 1974. I also have three Series 1969-B star notes A00007099*, A00007100* and A00007111*

Lowest I have is a series '06 Chicago $1, G00000487*. Received in change, after buying coffee. Average circulated condition.

Next lowest is a series '69 San Fran $1, L00004056A, also received in change. It has some pretty heavy folds/creases/wear & tear, but it's not an everyday find, so I deemed it a keeper.

I also got an '03A $1 star in change about 2 weeks ago. I don't remember the district, or the complete serial, but it went something like 0007XXXX*. It was a complete rag, though, so I released it back into circ.

I've got a 1929 NBN $ 100. note from the bank of Baltimore, MD, in VF condition # F-000011-A. Being a new guy I don't think I'm allowed to post a pix, and that's ok because I wouldn't know how anyway.

You should be able to post pictures. The only thing you can't do is put up items for sale or buy item until you reach a certain number of posts. Am I right?

Yeah Bill....it would be a neat treat to see that note....All you will need to do is click on the "Reply to Topic" link above the "Quick Reply" box that you used to make your verbal post....Then at the bottom of the "Reply to Topic" box, you will see a little green camera....click on that, and you should be guided through the rest of it.....It is quite simple, but if you have trouble, feel free to let me know.

From the information that you have given, I can tell you that your note was the bottom note on a six note sheet, and that particular sheet was the 11th sheet printed for that particular bank....Sounds like one great note, and I would love to see a picture of it. All notes on a sheet had the same serial number, but differed only in the prefix letter.....(the note at the top of the sheet being A000011A and the bottom note being F000011A).

Thanks zeewool,
I thought it would be a lot harder than that. This is a great site. It was one of the easier things I've done on any web site. Some of the others have way to many loop holes to jump through and after awhile I give up. Thanks Again for making it so easy.

I'm not happy with the pix quality but now that I see how easy it was I'll have a better camera soon.
