Hopefully the bumps aren't from bursted casting bubbles at the Bejing Back Alley Branch mint.

Get all 4. you know you want to. :)
1857 and the 1911 would be okay.
1857 if I had to choose just 1.

Funny comment Long9. I would purchase the 1893 first because it has a fairly low mintage compared to the rest. My next choice would be the 1857 because it is older than the other 2. Since you are just filling a spot in your type set you may want to go the cheaper route the 1913.

This is from an online dealer. Seems to have a good reputation. From everyone's opinion, most votes are for the 1857 and 1893.

I see the gunk you mentioned Tpatna and the pitted look longnine mentioned. I like the 1857 but I don't want a problem coin. I was thinking of buying the 1857 and one Baber dime. Anyone else think the 1857 might have problems?

Toning on the 1893 can't be from an album.

when I first saw these coins I liked the 1893 myself, it just looked like alot better coin to me. I had even replied to this fact but since I know nothing about any of these series of coins I just deleted my post because there was no reason to sway you either way if one was more rare than the other

Edited to correct spelling

Thank You Scout. I don't want imply that I think it's a cast. A Half Dime is probably too thin to try that. But the obverse does look like it came from a pitted die.

It doesn't have to be a low mintage, I'm looking for nice eye appeal. While I was looking at some other things I came across this, look at the details, its beautiful.

I don't get a good feeling from the 1857. The details are good, but I don't like the look of the surface. I think the 1893 is the best coin for the money. Just my opinion, of course.

Well, one thing's for sure...when you make a post asking other people for advice about how to spend your money for coins there's no shortage of takers! Over 100 hits and 20 pieces of advice in one day!

I'd sure like to join in but for some reason I'm not seeing any pics or links to pics...don't know if it's my computer or if Shatsi decided to buy ALL the coins and everything's gone! Maybe I've just entered...the no coin twilight zone.

Your puter must be in the "coin twilight zone" as the pics are still here! Interesting!

OK, I've decided to skip the 1857, I'll wait for a better one to come along. So far I'm set on the 1893 and I'll wait to hear from Susan about the Baber dime she'll be receiving. Thank you for all your opinion.

adobero1, the pictures are still there, I can't afford all of them, but was thinking of getting the 1857 and a baber dime but decided on just the baber dime and others see somethings that I missed.
