DV, it was not my intention to dist your grading. I apologize if that is how it came out. I'm always trying to learn and this coin looked so very good to me. I would love to have it in my collection and I would have given it a XF without question but that is why I'm trying to study this more.

It wasn't G to VF, it was gVF (good very fine), which equates to better than VF, but not quite EF.

Yes Alganbagerap Your is a average for the date if not better. Your may very well be a lower end Ex-Fine its kind of hard to tell from your scan.

I took some pictures of the two Copenhagen minted 5 Aurar's from this period which is known as the Kingdom Era which include's the 1940 and 42 5 Aurar's but was minted by the london mint during WWII and was much better minted coins then the Copenhagen minted coins.
The best way to grade these coins is to look at the crown which pretty much is were you will find the most wear but you have to also count for a weak strike.

These coins do hold up well in circulation and that may be due to the fact that they were not handled as much as you may think because at that time there was only about 150,000 people in Iceland and people where used to barter for there goods and save the coins if possible.

I don't have any of them in EXfine condition that would grade as such (with a TPG), which I think is a coin whith alot of detail with some noticable wear at first glance but may have some orignal luster on the coin but these coins are impossble to find with full or near red mint luster, I have not seen one yet.

I blew up your pictures and after looking at them more closely I would say that your coin may very well be a lower to mid-range Exfine condition.

cdn44fan.... I wasn't talking about your 2 Aurar. But your coin looks to be a high-end AU or even a Unc of some grade. The corrosion seems to be a common problem with Icelandic copper coins I guess it may have to due with the very cold damp climate in Iceland during the winters.
