zakgold,

Remember that it was PCGS that was sued by the Federal government for doing exactly that. It ended in a out of court settlement.

ND, many thanks for the very illuminating articles. I got my feet a little wet in the PCGS SEC Annual Report pdf file and saw the reference to the lawsuit in which the PCGS connection to the complainant was tenuous at best and certainly was not a result of their grading efforts. I didn't wade any deeper into the report except the index which provided no further reference to the suit as far as I could tell. What was the outcome of the lawsuit or is it still in litigation?

In the Heritage article, it mentioned that lawsuits are essentially a normal expectation in any business. As a private consultant for many years, I can testify to that fact; it's no big deal and it's going to happen to most any firm sooner or later, especially if the company deals in expert opinions.

My conclusion: PCGS was sued. So what?

Not sure what this answer means in plain english..can anyone else translate the meaning ?

Dear fptoyman,

You asked:
"Hi, I have a question about the grade on this coin will you guarantee a ms66 grade from PCGS ?.From the description and quoting the coin values guide, you should agree with the grade. So I am asking for a guarantee or the value difference if it grades lower. Thank you Gil"

Of course we agree with The Grade/Coin is Certified and Graded! We don't grade for PCGS!! We Guarantee 100% satisfaction or Money back!

The worst part about it is that I knew that. I'm sorry.

To answer your question about the email received though, I read that to mean that, as he's not a PCGS grader, he's not going to guarantee the same grade through PCGS but that he does have a return policy. He probably won't accept it back in a PCGS holder either.

Well I hope that his answer will lead you not to buy from this seller. If they only agree with a grading company that the hobby does not agree with, then they need to be avoided.

The way I read it is they offer you nothing more than agreeing with the grading company that they use,and no one else!!! Mike
