The CWRs had all 1972 no DDOs and 1976s. No silver nothing worth keeping. Getting a box over the weekend. I hate the markers too, but makw e usre you look for DDOs etc casue they could be searching only silver. I found and NIFC with a blue mark on it. I kept it.

I think that people that mark the half dollars with markers should be smacked with a rolled up newspaper!

Don't feel too bad about skunk boxes, I finished up 4 $1k bags (2 cloth sealed with lead and string seals, 2 plastic bags dated 2008 and 2009) and 6 Brinks boxes and got 1 Booker T Washington 1942 half and 1 40%er. THAT is sucky!

The high price of silver makes extraction of silver coins from circulation seem like there is no tomorrow. Every body must be doing it.

Obla:
I think it is a cool coin but at first I thought it was a arcade coin joke. Never heard of the type. I reckon there is a whole passel of commemorative halfs, just wasn't aware though.

sticking to customer rolls seems now, to be the only way to score bigger than boxes. my silver dime ratio is about 1.5x per $100 searched, as for quarters too. At my CHase bank, the head tellers told me that they DO NOT search the rolls of coins that come in. The only time that they do search the rolls is when they hit $500 or $1000 limit to ship them out. IF you can get to the rolls before the tellers do, then your in the money. Just ask them when they ship out normally, and get there before. last month I went to get $500 in dimes and the merchant teller has the plastic shipping bags at her counter, " I'm just about to ship them out" low and behold I netted 10x silvers! my point, as you can clearly see, buy the customer wrapped. Two things that I dont like about getting customer wrapped is that you look like a terrorist carrying a back pack into a bank, and second, you sometimes get shortchanged. I received $50 in dimes once to find they were all pennies! So I knew for a fact the tellers did not open the rolls to look for silver. So let this be a note of encouragement to get those customer rolls. It may not be the same for every branch or bank , but asking doesn't hurt

i have been buying cwr of halves. I'm just wondering when you ask for dimes. do you say can I get dimes that customers bring in. or do you just ask for some dimes. what if they want to give you a case. its easy with halves. they usually dont have halves by the case so you just get cwr where I live.

Today, I asked the tellers if they had any rolls of dimes that customers bought in, instead of a truck. I also show them what CWR's look like and then they bring them out.

the armored car company would have to weigh how much they make off of rolling & distibuting the halves VS sorting them for silver. The fees for rolling & delivery are a known, set fee where silver is hit & miss. if they remove ALL of the silver they will never get any more orders for rolled halves. Then what would they do with them?
