I'm pretty sure it was a Bilderberg conspiracy to redistribute wealth through clever trickery. Those guys are always scheming. Either that or you guys are prone to over-reaction.
The $3 Tyee coin looked for all the world like a big, beautiful silver dollar, but is about the size of a quarter in-hand. More than a few people were disappointed by that one, but I can't say it was an intentional deception.

1cent is correct about the deceiving look. What was interesting about that $3 was the over-sized case that came with it. It made the coin look even smaller.

No question the Tyee is a pretty coin, it just would have been nice if it was a little bigger to showcase the design. I very nearly ordered one from the mint, and ordering mint stuff is something I do roughly once in a blue moon.

Hi all, thank you to those who responded in a respectful, family style manner. The RCM called today to explain the root cause was that the British Royal Mint issued the incorrect coins to the RCM, and thus the RCM shipped the coins. They told me to keep the incorrect coin as a gift to me and the new "silver" edition will be shipped a soon as possible. Since I was charged for this incorrect coin on my Credit Card, I guess I wasn't expected to keep it! Wonder what would have happened as mentioned, if I wouldn't have highlighted the situation. Kudus to the RCM for rectifying the situation in an expedient manner.

Wow aarf... I never heard of a scam artist trying to help out a victim before. And you implied the RCM expected you to keep the coin. Why don't you go back and read your first post now and tell everyone how you overreacted. Better yet send the RCM your first post so they can have a good laugh while helping you out. It is funny how you expect the RCM to be respectful and everyone else, but you are free to bash and imply the RCM is a scam artist or thief. I guess streets only work one way with you.

Yeah, imagine that. A simple mistake. Wish I'd a thought of that as a possibility. I agree Realpenny. Quote: Battle Of Britain 2010 - Sold Out - Scammed Quote:Hi all, anyone else get scammed by the RCM on the Subject? Quote: What surprises me is that they expect me to keep this for $101.00

Mis-Represented by RCM - By Noob from Ottawa Ontario on 2/12/2011 Quote:Very disappointed. I was hoping to display this on a shelf, however, NO DISPLAY case as represented in the description and photos from the RCM. It comes in a bubble envelope sealed in a plastic sleeve and card! What a mis-representation by the RCM. Price is out of sorts as you expect the cost to be for a portion towards the display case but, NOT. To me this was a scam. Very Disappointing with this representation by the RCM. Royal Canadian Mint Response: Quote: We would like to apologize on behalf of the British Royal Mint and the Royal Canadian Mint to the small number of customers affected by a technical issue with a recent shipment of the Battle of Britain Coin. In some cases, this resulted in our shipping a proof version in cupro-nickel instead of the sterling silver proof version. All affected customers have been contacted and will receive the proper coin very soon.

Now if only they'd fix their bullion accounting system so we'd actually know how much got made off with from year to year... Oh that troy lb of gold... it ah... turned to dust and was pushed out the ventilation shaft... ooops, my bad.
All said it's nice the customer was finally treated correctly here. To be honest I've good experience with customer service there.

When Budweiser had a beer stein club, one of the issues was a $1000 list millenium stein. A neighbor merchant sold them, and sent back a half dozen defectives (bad paint, missing gold leaf, etc). I mean, for $400-500 wholesale, it's not unreasonable to expect quality. Replacements were OK, except for two, and when he sent those back (and ordered more), he got some from the original returns!
