When I first started collecting I mentioned needing to get some form of magnification. A guy at work overheard me and told me about a setup that he had that allowed you to plug it right into the computer and see it "live" on the monitor. Sounded perfect.

He offered to let me borrow it to see if I liked it and then could get my own. To my surprise, the next day he brought in a pair of binoculars!

Have you ever tried looking for a doubled die on a coin with binoculars?

Sounds simple enough. Stand them up along the outside wall of your house, go two blocks away, and hope nobody runs off with them while you are trying to zero in on them with the binoculars.

By the way, MODERATOR or ADMIN - Thank you for shifting my post. I wasn't sure where to post but I guess it makes sense in General as its was more about tools than social talk.

I'll learn yet. I hope

I really am so happy with the loupe. And yes, I can see where in future I'll want more and different magnifiers etc. I would like an even stronger bigger one next time I'm able to get one. Different strengths etc for different uses.

Next you will need an electron microscope with the 50,000X ability. You should see how the dates look with them.

Appears you are now well on your way to seeing ... excellent.

Gotta have a loupe if you have any hope for finding the details.

Pleased for you.

I have a B and L 10x and 14x, I find myself reaching for the 14x most of the time, much easier to see varieties. At coin shops I use the 10x first but if anything looks interesting, out comes the 14x.

The 14x was less than $40 here in Brooklyn

Thanks a lot for the link. And yes, the price is right. I think we have a Radio Shack outlet in this town, but not sure. Will have to find out!

I've never heard of the Princess Auto one though.
