Oddly, I hardly ever find these. Granted, I haven't been through a million cents, yet. But, I can honestly say I've found more doubled dies than trail dies. I've only found a few trail dies, but at least one of them was a new listing. I would love to find one like the top example - it's really nice.

Hey Cud Wild- the '94 Trail Die you've got is one of the most dramatic known of these little understood varieties. A simply awesome find. As far as market values, I just purchased a group of them, I'm planning on testing the waters and seeing where demand lies. We've got 2 sons, the youngest just will be 8 months on the 21st of this month. Your die trail will probably be considered a "key" to the variety type and bring a pretty penny when your son's your age. I sock away stuff for both of ours, I too hope they are able to learn to enjoy the hobby as much as we do!

Hello, John1...I am wondering where you find what trail dies list for - re: your comment: Quote:As for value your coin looks to be 023 on http://www.traildies.com and lists for $10-15.Check out the site it's great,it also lists wavy steps. John1 I searched traildies.com and did not find values - perhaps my search was too haphazard? Thanks for your help. Pete

Maybe if you went to their web site and contacted them to ask them to start listing values again it would help.If enough people ask they might do it. John1

You're going to run with values people are pulling off the tops of their heads? Shouldn't somebody....sell something before there's a value?

Quote: Trail dies site at one time listed values, how did they come up with them? Considering there are very darn few sales records, there's only one way to come up with prices. That's my point. Somebody, somewhere, is arbitrarily deciding what such a coin is worth upon zero evidence. I know a lot about the relative rarity of certain 1921 Morgan VAMs, but in the absence of any sales data I've no right to put a value on them.

I received an E-mail from B J Neff at traildies.com which said that he will start to price trail dies in August. Pete

Quote:Here one way to estimate value: actual prices of closed ebay sales I think that you are right DrDon - what the market says is the best indicator of value. Also the direction the market is taking is a far better indicator than opinions of what it is going to do! Pete
